King Street Pilot Project

At its December meeting, City Council approved the King Street Transit Pilot. The goal of the project is to prioritize and accelerate streetcar service by limiting automobile traffic. The TTC has said King St is the busiest surface transit route in the city moving more than 65,000 riders per day. Travel delays were experienced as the streetcars shared the road with 20,000 vehicles, and it was suggested these cars could use parallel streets to travel.

Since the Pilot Project was launched in early November, businesses along King St have expressed some concerns with the impact of this project. In order to assist them, the City is now offering discounted parking rates for nearby Green P lots.
