City Review of by-laws governing outdoor sidewalk cafés

The City has been conducting a review of the existing by-laws for outdoor cafes on the public right-of-way (sidewalks) in order to harmonize and modernize them into one for all of Toronto. At the same time, updated outdoor café guidelines are being created to provide safe, comfortable and universally accessible cafes and sidewalks.

A draft by-law and set of guidelines have been developed based on feedback from a series of consultations conducted with stakeholders including Business Improvement Areas, Residents' Associations, boulevard cafe and marketing permit holders, and the general public.

The City is hosting information sessions to present the draft by-law and guidelines. The meeting details for North York can be found below.
